Private Tour around the Build-a-Bear Workshop

The teddy bear, a symbol of comfort for over a hundred years, will always be the most favored stuffed animal. Build-a-Bear company believes in human compassion and helping others less fortunate.

Almost everyone has heard of the Build-a-Bear Workshop retail store, where people of all ages can build their own bear. Hundreds of choices are yours, for clothing and accessories, when you build you very own bear in the retail shop. The workshop has become the place to have birthday parties where friends gather together to celebrate and build a teddy bear to remember the occasion.

Build-a-Bear Workshop partners with charitable organizations that you may not be aware of, just to encourage participation by others to understand a cause they are supporting. Most charities know that when they offer a premium gift of thanks, the response to donations is much better.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity International if one of the charities that Build-A Bear partners with. A Christian-based organization, Habitat for Humanity builds new home, or fixes up old ones, for low income families. These new homes are sold at no profit, and there is no interest charged. The material to build is supplied through donations, and volunteers come and do the physical work.

There was even a teddy bear named "Sawyer" built by the bear workshop that was inspired by the saws and tools used to renovate the homes. Sawyer is a cute, 12-inch golden bear filled with beans making him particularly huggable and he's sent to people who respond to the request for a donation. He even wears a red t-shirt that reads, "Home Sweet Home" on the front. Donations were not where they needed to be until Sawyer came on the scene. Sawyer represents to the donor the love and compassion shown to those needing shelter and especially to children who will be living in those new homes.

It's All About Saving the Children

Another charity that Build-a-Bear has partnered with is called Save The Children. David Archuleta, from American Idol, contributed his song, "Let's talk About Love", which was written especially for Build-a-Bear.

This latest fund raiser, “Love, Hugs, Peace” encourages young bear makers to sign onto the Build-a-Bear website and donate $1 to Save the Children as a show of love for children in need around the world. More than 38,000 young bear lovers donated on the site and were given a free copy of the song "Let's Talk About Love" to download. Build-a-Bear offers a t-shirt for the teddy bears with “Love, Hugs, Peace” written on the front. Build-a-Bear also donates 25 cents from the sale of each t-shirt sold.

Charity does begin at home, and Build-a-Bear Workshop wants people to remember this and help those who are not as fortunate. All of us can help Build-a-Bear Workshop by becoming donors to help the causes they support.
